Champagne Republic

An exhibition of original illustrations and limited-edition prints will be shown by Belinda Aucott from Wednesday 11 December - March 2020 at WorkLife in Berry.


Capturing the joy and spontaneity of sparkling wine, oysters and fish, these vibrant food focused portraits will include studies of 2004 Dom Pérignon, Krug Grande Cuvée and Pol Roger’s Sir Winston 2004.  Illustrations of vintage wines will be accompanied by illustrations and paintings of festive delicacies drawn from the festive season’s bounty. These will include Iranian caviar, Ortiz anchovies from Northern Spain as well as local south coast oysters and green blue swimmer crabs.


Aucott says her works are being exhibited in a light-hearted atmosphere, where she hopes they will continue to engender a spirit of ‘joy and celebration’.


“I have chosen illustrations of truly iconic wines that evoke strong memories in me, for both the way they tasted and the atmosphere in which I enjoyed them in.  


“This exhibition shows the work from Champagne Republic a personal project that charts the months and measures them in bottles tasted, glasses sipped and memories consumed. The drawings are really all about my personal effort to slow down and take time to smell the roses. Work Life in Berry is a great perfect place to show my work, surrounded by beautiful country side and coastline, where locals are known to enjoy the finer things in life, ” Aucott says.  


“For me Champagne Republic is all about slowing down, it’s about popping open something exquisite and being amazed by it. It's a reminder to never lose the excitement that fills you the moment before you try something new”.

Belinda was trained in food and wine at Petaluma Wines as a youngster and has previously worked as Wine Educator for Berringer Blass.


During her career she has spent time as a Sommelier working for Marco Pierre White at The Belvedere in London and enjoyed various posts writing for publications including, Men’s Style, National Liquor News, Indesign and GQ. Belinda’s illustrations have been published by; Harpers Bazaar, Gourmet Traveller Wine, AFR Magazine, and Inside Out.
